our faith
what we believe
We invite you to learn what we're all about. These are the cornerstones of our belief that shape our lives in Christ, our fellowship in the church, and our connection to the world around us.

our God
God is the divine creator of all things. He was and is and is to come. He is the giver of life. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. There is nothing as great as God, as high as God, as ancient as God, or as eternal as God. God is all knowing, all present, all powerful, and all good. He is one essence in three persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Through his trinitarian nature, he brings order to the universe, and calls his creation to himself.

our humanity
Mankind is the workmanship of God. He created us to glorify him. This was not an act of self-aggrandizement or conceit, it was an act of love. God created us so that we could experience his consuming love. As his creation, we are bearers of his image. He placed within us a capacity to know him, follow him, love him, and live in communion with him. He created us to dwell with him.

our sin
But, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Because we are in the nature of mankind, we think evil thoughts, do evil deeds, and live in evil ways. Evil is the antithesis of God's holy and righteous goodness. Evil is used by Satan, who seeks to confine us to our earthly desires and bury us in human death. Without an act of God, our sin would make our earthly death final, and separate us from God forever.

our Savior
But God loved us despite our sin. He saw us in our darkest hours. He knew that we could not overcome evil. He loved us so much, that he sent the son, Jesus, to dwell among us. Jesus, who was in the beginning with God, gave up equality with God and came to the Earth. He lived a blameless life and accepted the punishment for our evil sins, by being crucified on a cross. But death was not powerful enough to hold Jesus, because he was God. And after three days he came back to life. This act atoned for our sin, defeated our death, and offers us reconciliation with God in heaven, where Jesus is still alive today. This was God's plan all along: to make us righteous, so we could dwell with him.

our life
God's grace, through the sacrifice of Jesus, gives us eternal life. By his work -- and his work alone -- we are saved from death. We accept his grace by believing in him and being baptized into the Holy Spirit, who indwells us as a gift from God. We do not have a deal with God, where God gives us eternal life as long as we do good things. Instead, God gave us eternal life because he loved us, and so we do his good will. Through his spirit, God made us his begotten children, and we became the heirs of his promise: eternal life with him.

our faith
In response to God's gift of eternal life, we live transformed lives of faith. Our faith shapes our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. We fellowship as Christ's church, the union he instituted to bind us to one another and deliver us to himself. We read God's inspired word in the Bible and we apply it to our lives. We obey his commands and we abstain from evil. We live in him, believe in him, trust in him, and hope in him. And together, we long for the day when he will come again and dwell among us -- his chosen people.
